About Us

The Rainbow Group of Companies consist of five companies which specialize in civil construction, road maintenance services, road marking, industrial rail cleaning services, panel beating and spray painting. South Africa’s maintenance and cleaning service industries used to be characterized by high staff turnover, low standards and low self-esteem of employees. Solly Sebola, founded the Rainbow Group of Companies to transform the maintenance and cleaning service industry through proactive leadership and training and by harnessing the collective talents of employees to the benefit of its clients.

HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

Increased opportunities afforded to all South Africans have resulted in dramatic increases in business opportunity in South Africa. However, existing unemployment levels have caused the crime rate to soar and due to very few corrective actions envisaged for the short term, it is vitally important that international standards in respect of all services, direct as well as indirect, are strictly conformed to. With this in mind, Solly Sebola, founded the Rainbow Group of Companies.

The intention of the formation of  the Rainbow Group was to transform an industry known for high staff turnover and standards. The business started with 5 employees and has since grown to a current staff compliment of around 1,000 employees.

As the Rainbow Group of Companies, our corporate strategy is to create a highly successful brand with an impeccable reputation, by incorporating business entities complimentary of our vision of broad based opportunities and human development.

We shall pursue demanding objectives by:-

Rainbow Group therefore supports the following pillars of empowerment.

Ownership, management and control: 

Rainbow Group is a 100 % black-owned company. It was founded in 1996 by founder and managing director, Mr. Solly Sebola. Altogether 99 % of the company’s staff is historically disadvantaged individuals.

Human resources and skills development: 

Our mission is to empower people by offering them fair remuneration, coaching and mentoring in exchange for honest labour. On-the-job training is available to all our staff and young black employees in the company are empowered through education, training and development. Rainbow also offered mentorship and coaching to about 2,000 employees from local communities to provide them with a sustainable future through the Expanded Public Works Program (EPWP).

Preferential procurement: 

We actively support preferential procurement as an effective instrument to drive BBBEE and enable emerging black enterprises to expand their output.

Enterprise development: 

Rainbow helps to establish new enterprises by providing set-up costs and/or support for under-privileged communities and sponsor various sports and recreational activities aimed at the youth.
